Probably nothing, however its a glimmer of something that seems to need delving into. Below is my letter to southern skies asking about the new pubs of TLN. LOOK at the response that was given. HI GUYS, My name is Brian Schweikert and I was a part of the trio of us who put trap lines north back into a spotlight by getting it back on to the web. My question to you is (even though I possess three (3) copies of the original (1 is very mint, sealed in a box of old stuff in a coffee can from the late 30's, I was given it from a cousin in Maine, as he knew of my affection for this book). Anyway I want the current printing you great guys are putting forth. I think it is a very wise thing to do here, re-issuing these titles. I spent many a night reading his stuff before bed-time growing up. Specifically, I don't know how close you have gotten to the family with this project. If you have read TLN, you will know it references a trapping diary kept by Jim, the main (real) character. Two of these diaries were supposedly given to Mr. Meader for background for the book as well as I am sure a keepsake. My (refer to the TLN website), partners in this thrust, Matt and Jo Ann, as myself have tried unsuccessfully at different times and different avenues to locate these. My position, unfortunately, is that they are probably dust in the winds of time. I say this as (stated from his son) because the papers and what-not of Stevens career reverted to his second wife (or the one he was married to when he passed). His son, the one referred to in the book indicated this. I gathered from him- to him, this was just another inquiry into something from his fathers career, which I am sure there was piles of papers and other documents and things from his research before writing. I am going on here, sorry. We would be very interested if you have any info regarding these diaries. They would be like the holy grail to us, LOL. Hey Brian, Thanks for contacting us. We are reprinting TLN in its original state, with all photos and illustrations intact. As for Stephen Meader's notes and the diary you mentioned, I have no idea where they might be, but most of his personal library went to the University of Southern Mississippi to its collection of works by children's authors. You might inquire there. The curator used to be a nice lady named Dee Jones, but she left there a couple of years ago, and I've had no contact with her successor. Keep ne eye on our website----we will be releasing twelve new titles around Nov. 15. Best, Jerry Atchley Southern Skies I will let you know if I get somewhere with this. brian
