Having read and re-read the foreward to TLN and looking for clues as to what happened between Jim Vanderbeck and Stephen Meader as far as story and material goes, I think some left over stories may have wound up in The Will To Win and Other Stories. I am completely thrilled with this book as some of the stories here are timeless. Two of them soung like they came from the TLN book. The first (Long Tall Dogs) deals with a dog sled race and one of the dogs is called Pat with mention that Airedale is a part breed of the dog and the main character's father runs an outfitting business and has two native guides. The second story a young guide takes out a young man on a hunting trip and tells the main character that his father is also guiding a hunting/camping trip with native guides. It sounded very similiar in spots to TLN but over all Will To Win is just excellent espically the last story Straws In The Wind. This is fast becoming my second favourite Stephen W. Meader book. I only wish I had won one on Ebay sooner but thank you Southern Skies - excellent stories at a great price.
